EQUSaT Opens Mental Health and Sexual Reproductive Health Office to the Public

Equator University of Science and Technology (EQUSaT) has officially opened its Mental Health and Sexual Reproductive Health Office to the public, a move aimed at extending essential counselling and wellness services beyond the campus to the surrounding community.

The new facility, which houses the university’s counsellor’s office, will provide professional mental health support and sexual reproductive health services to students, staff, and residents in the nearby areas. This initiative is part of EQUSaT’s broader commitment to community engagement and improving public health.

While commissioning the office, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo, emphasized the university’s responsibility to contribute to societal wellbeing through accessible and inclusive services.

“At EQUSaT, we believe education goes hand in hand with health and wellness,” Prof. Mpezamihigo said. “Opening our counsellor’s office to the public reflects our dedication to supporting not only our students but also the wider community with the mental health and sexual reproductive health services they need.”

The new office will offer confidential counselling sessions, mental health awareness programs, reproductive health education, and guidance for individuals and families. It is expected to serve as a safe space for addressing sensitive issues and promoting holistic wellbeing within the region.
