Strengthening Leadership and Quality at EQUSaT

Equator University of Science and Technology (EQUSaT) continues to strengthen its leadership and institutional capacity with the appointment of Dr. Stephen Sebaggala as Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs and Mr. Ivan Muhwezi as Quality Assurance Officer.

Dr. Stephen Sebaggala brings extensive academic and professional experience to his new role. Previously serving as a Member/Staff Representative, Head of the Department of Anatomy, and Senior Orthopaedic Consultant, he has contributed to both academic leadership and healthcare practice. As Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs, he is expected to play a key role in advancing teaching and learning, academic standards, research, innovation, and faculty development.

Mr. Ivan Muhwezi, who previously served as Dean of Students, takes on a new responsibility as Quality Assurance Officer. His transition reflects the University's recognition of the importance of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across its academic and administrative operations. His experience in student affairs provides an important perspective as EQUSaT continues to strengthen systems that support student success and institutional excellence.

Together, the appointments represent a broader commitment by EQUSaT to building strong leadership and effective institutional systems. They align closely with SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, while Dr. Sebaggala's health-sector expertise also resonates with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.

As EQUSaT advances its vision of transformative higher education, these appointments reinforce a simple but important principle: academic excellence depends on strong leadership, rigorous quality systems, and people committed to serving both students and society.

Enabling Human Capacity.
