At Equator University of Science and Technology (EQUSaT), we believe that research and innovation are powerful tools to transform lives, communities, and the nation at large. As the Coordinator of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Grants (ORIG), I am proud to lead an office that catalyzes ideas, collaboration, and practical solutions. Our mission is to support faculty, students, and partners in conducting high-quality research, securing funding, and translating discoveries into real-world impact.
ORIG is committed to creating an environment where curiosity, creativity, and innovation thrive. We guide researchers at every stage from conceptualizing projects to developing grant proposals, managing funded initiatives, and ensuring ethical and regulatory compliance. By providing this support, we empower our academic community to focus on meaningful discovery while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and excellence.
Innovation is at the heart of our work. We actively support initiatives that translate research into products, technologies, and interventions that benefit society. Through the EQUSaT Innovation and Incubation Hub, we nurture ideas into prototypes, connect researchers with industry partners, and create opportunities for commercialization. Whether it is developing digital health solutions, climate-resilient agriculture, or renewable energy technologies, our goal is to ensure that knowledge generated at EQUSaT contributes tangibly to societal progress.
We also recognize the importance of capacity building. ORIG organizes workshops, seminars, mentorship programs, and training sessions to equip early-career researchers and students with the skills they need in research design, data management, Publishing, grant writing, and scientific communication. By investing in people, we ensure that EQUSaT produces a new generation of scholars and innovators capable of tackling Africa’s most pressing challenges.
As we look ahead, our vision is clear: to strengthen EQUSaT as a leading centre of excellence in Science and Technology in Uganda and across the continent. We are committed to fostering partnerships, mobilizing resources, and creating opportunities that allow our researchers to make meaningful contributions locally and globally.
