The Vice-Chancellor of Equator University of Science and Technology (EQUSaT), Prof. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo, has highlighted the University’s commitment to developing competent professionals and responsible citizens ahead of its inaugural graduation ceremony scheduled for 23 October 2026.
Speaking during a visit to Radio Buddu, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised that university education must extend beyond academic qualifications to foster discipline, social responsibility, interpersonal relationships and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
He underscored the importance of producing graduates who are not only professionally equipped but also humble, well-grounded and prepared to contribute meaningfully to society and national development.
The remarks reflect EQUSaT’s broader educational mission of enhancing human potential through teaching, research, innovation and partnerships. By placing character development alongside professional competence, the University seeks to prepare graduates for the responsibilities and opportunities of an increasingly interconnected society.
The forthcoming graduation ceremony marks a significant milestone in the University’s development, as it prepares to celebrate its pioneer cohort of graduates. It also provides an opportunity to reflect on the role of higher education in nurturing individuals who can translate their knowledge and skills into meaningful contributions to their communities and the country.
EQUSaT’s approach aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), which advocates inclusive and equitable quality education and the promotion of lifelong learning opportunities for all.
As preparations continue for the historic occasion, the University reaffirms its commitment to enabling human capacity through education that combines professional excellence, personal integrity and service to society.
