The Happiness Without Borders International Conference, held from October 15–17, 2025, in Kampala, Uganda, brought together global delegates, scholars, and thought leaders to explore how culture, intelligence, and technology can shape a happier and more connected world. The conference, themed “Cultural Intelligence, Traditions, and the Future of Global Well-being,” was organized by the University of Lahore in collaboration with the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness and the Equator University of Science and Technology (EQUSaT).
EQUSaT, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo, represented Uganda in this international dialogue that sought to redefine happiness through innovation, empathy, and intercultural understanding. The event featured multiple panels, wellness sessions, and cultural exchanges—all designed to deepen the scientific and social understanding of happiness.
Day One focused on Cultural Intelligence and the Science of Happiness, with discussions on “Happiness Across Cultures” and “Cultural Intelligence: Can Understanding Others Make Us Happier?” Panelists explored how exposure to diverse traditions and philosophies fosters empathy, joy, and a sense of global belonging. Storytelling, neuroscience, and psychology were highlighted as key drivers in shaping well-being.
Day Two, themed Building Bridges for a Happier World, delved into the intersection between Technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and happiness. Experts debated whether AI can serve as a bridge or a barrier to human connection and how digitalization can enhance global well-being. Another panel explored policy frameworks to design a happier world, discussing national happiness indexes and strategies for embedding well-being in education, workplaces, and governance.
Beyond the panels, participants engaged in wellness sessions, guided mindfulness practices, storytelling by the bonfire, personal happiness narratives, and a cultural safari, creating a rich blend of academic exchange and experiential learning.
Through its active participation, EQUSaT reaffirmed its commitment to global partnerships, human-centered innovation, and the promotion of happiness as a universal value—echoing its mission to educate, inspire, and empower communities toward sustainable development and collective well-being.
