EQUSaT Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Attends Deans’ Forum
The Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, Equator University of Science and Technology, Dr. Richard Wismayer, participated in the Dean’s Forum, that took place at the Kabira Country Club in Kampala, on the 15th August 2025.
The Deans' Forum hosted by the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Council is designed to promote academic excellence and leadership within Uganda. It serves as a platform for Deans from Medical schools around the country to collaborate, share best practices, and address challenges related to teaching, learning, research, and innovation. The forum also aims to foster multidisciplinary activities and promote good governance.
It also identifies common challenges related to academic affairs and works towards finding solutions. This meeting also encourages interactions and collaborations among the Deans of the local medical schools.
Dr. Wismayer noted that such meetings are important in helping collaborations among local medical schools in areas of education and research. He noted that medical schools in Uganda are in a resource limited environment, serving a resource limited population and therefore should not operate in isolation from each other.
In the meeting, emphasis was placed on areas of collaboration including research, teaching, community services; sharing experiences, laboratories and human resource; and joint funding/grants applications among medical schools in Uganda.
