EQUSaT Commemorates World Cancer Day with Awareness Seminar

August 23, 2024 — Equator University of Science and Technology (EQUSaT) joined the rest of the world in commemorating World Cancer Day with a sensitization seminar focused on cervical cancer and other related cancers.

The seminar was headlined by renowned medical experts Dr. Omona Alfonse and Dr. Kalema Herbert, who educated attendees on healthy ways to prevent cancer and strategies to support patients in their recovery journeys.

In addition to the seminar, the event featured a movie screening centered on the experiences of cancer patients. The film highlighted the emotional, physical, and social challenges faced by those battling cancer, while also showcasing practical ways communities can help them live healthier lives.

The event left participants more informed, inspired, and committed to raising awareness about cancer prevention and patient support.

The commemoration advanced SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting awareness and prevention of life-threatening diseases, and SDG 4 (Quality Education) through health education and knowledge sharing.
