EQUSaT Commemorates World AIDS Day with Awareness and Counselling Sessions

December 1, 2024 — Equator University of Science and Technology (EQUSaT) joined the global community in marking World AIDS Day with an event focused on awareness, prevention, and the fight against stigma.

 

The session, facilitated by Ms. Kyomugisha Hilder, the university counsellor, educated students on how HIV/AIDS spreads, effective prevention measures, and the importance of building supportive communities for those affected. In addition, Ms. Kyomugisha offered counselling sessions to both students and staff who are directly or indirectly impacted by HIV/AIDS.

 

The commemoration emphasized compassion, knowledge, and resilience, reaffirming EQUSaT’s commitment to promoting health and well-being within its community.

 

Contribution to SDGs

The event advanced SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting awareness and support around HIV/AIDS, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by addressing stigma and encouraging inclusivity for those affected.
