The objective of the Bachelor of Public Health Programme is intended to produce quality public health professionals with skills and knowledge to lead global, regional and national public health roles which contribute to the reduction of morbidity and mortality related preventable causes.
Specific Objectives
On completion of this degree programme, graduates should be able to:

Demonstrate key competencies and skills that will enable them to identify and assess public health problems in developing countries and evaluate policies and programmes designed to improve public health in communities.

Strengthen capacity to contribute to reduction in morbidity and mortality at both national and international levels.

Conceptualize, design, and conduct high-level public health research, and be familiar with the statistical tools for data analysis.

Strengthen the capacity in planning, implementation, and reporting on the health services at Regional Referral Hospitals, District, and Health Sub-District levels.

Design, develop, and implement community empowerment projects with specific leadership capacity to mobilize community participation with regard to health problems.
An applicant must obtain any two Advanced Level principal passes in Biology, Agriculture, Foods and Nutrition, Physics, or Chemistry obtained at the same sitting of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education or its equivalent.
A Diploma in health-related sciences such as Clinical Medicine, Public Health, Comprehensive Nursing, Midwifery, Laboratory, or Grade III education in Biological Sciences from a recognized institution is required. Applicants must also have at least two years’ experience in any health-related institution or field.
Applicants with a degree from institutions recognized by the National Council for Higher Education of Uganda may apply for admission to the Bachelor of Public Health, provided they satisfy any of the above health-related science programme requirements.
An applicant must have sat and passed the Mature Age Entrance Examinations set and marked by an accredited university. In addition, the applicant must fulfill the mature age entry requirements regarding acceptable years of age.
An applicant must obtain at least a CGPA of 2.80 in the Higher Education Access Certificate Programme (HEC/HEAC/HEAP) — in Biological or Physical Science tracks — from a recognized institution.
On successful completion of the BPH from Equator University of Science & Technology, the graduates will be able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of both theoretical and practical application of the core Public Health disciplines.
Our graduates will also be equipped with key competencies and skills that will enable them to identify and assess public health problems in their respective countries and communities.
The Bachelor of Science in Public Health is a multidisciplinary undergraduate degree programme that prepares students to pursue careers in both public and private sectors — in fields such as: Environmental Health, Health Research, Epidemiology, Health Administration, Nutrition, Biostatistics, Community Medicine, Health Policy and Planning, among other fields of interest.
